Mainframe as a Service Migration Project signs contract with Ensono

Washington Technology Solutions (WaTech) has officially partnered with Ensono to transition the current mainframe environments to Ensono's Mainframe Services offering. The contract was signed on March 27, 2020 by Director and State CIO Jim Weaver.

The project entails Ensono taking over operations of the current mainframe in Olympia to fully understand the environment, with the goal to transition the workloads (applications, databases and interfaces) to an Ensono owned and managed mainframe in their Data Center. The next step will be to finalize the Statement of Work.

Over the past several weeks, Ensono and WaTech have worked together to establish a seamless transition plan that is aligned to the strategic thinking of both organizations as well as industry best practices. Ensono's MFaaS offering will enable WaTech to serve its state agencies and citizens with greater speed and efficiency.

"The opportunities made possible through this agreement are an exciting step forward for both WaTech and Ensono," said Jeff VonDeylen, CEO of Ensono. "Ensono's mainframe expertise and ability to adapt IT systems to meet the needs of the public sector positioned us as a strong partner for WaTech. We look forward to being part of WaTech's next phase of optimization and helping them support Washington state agencies and citizens now and into the future."

"I am very pleased to provide our state with a top-tier solution for mainframe service at substantial savings while also providing for a sustainable, supported and secured compute platform into the next decade," said Jim Weaver.
