Scott West, who joined WaTech in mid-2016 as the operations service manager, started this week as the new assistant director for the Computing Services Division within the Infrastracture and Applications group of the agency.
"Scott's energy and passion of delivering valued services, engaging customers, broadening the horizon for our teams, and being a champion of WaTech services has been transformative," said Deputy Director Heidi Geathers in announcing West's new role. "His willingness to lean forward and think outside of the box has brought us new customers, financial strength, and the ability to visualize the tremendous possibilities the CSD and WaTech teams have in store for the future."
WaTech services within its Computing Services Division include email/messaging, applications, mainframe, secure access to web-based services and Cloud-based services such as storage and applications.
The resident of Tacoma has degrees from Tacoma Community College, the University of Washington and most recently, an MBA from Western Governors University. He was with a start-up technology company prior to joining WaTech and was co-host of CloudTalk Radio, a weekly podcast and radio show focusing on cloud services. He has also engaged in a host of volunteer work and mentoring programs.
"I have spent a significant part of my life as an entrepreneur and mentoring entrepreneurs," West said.
He is the author of two books, one of which is in its final stages of editing with Amazon publishing services.
Scott and his wife Tracy have two children, a daughter enrolled in the Running Start program and a son in the Navy.
Scott began his new duties on Jan. 16.
