Legislative session 2025
Before this year’s Legislative session wrapped up, I was invited to present on OPDP’s work before the Senate Environment, Energy, and Technology (ENET) Committee on April 2. Other presentations included the Future of Privacy Forum, UW’s Technology and Policy Lab, and the Department of Licensing and Commerce. You can check out the work session on at TVW.
Also, I have included a list of bills OPDP monitored this session that have been delivered to the Governor for signature or have already been signed into law. These include:
- HB 1205 - Prohibiting the knowing distribution of a forged digital likeness.
- HB 1222 - Concerning public inspection and copying of proprietary financial and security information submitted to or obtained by the gambling commission.
- HB 1287 - Addressing the disclosure of health information for care coordination.
- HB 1308 - Concerning access to personnel records.
- HB 1382 - Modernizing the all payers claim database.
- HB 1385 - Concerning fingerprint background check on applicants.
- HB 1457 - Requiring electronic monitoring of sexually violent predators granted conditional release.
- SB 5014 - Concerning election security.
- SB 5030 - Improving access to educational services by reducing barriers to obtaining vital records and allowing alternative forms of documentation.
- SB 5632 - Protecting the confidentiality of records and information that may be relevant to another state's enforcement of its laws.
- SB 5239 - Concerning the retention of hospital medical records.
