Carlos De León is the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) for the Washington State Department of Revenue (DOR). He brings more than twenty years of information technology experience with deep knowledge in cybersecurity. He has played pivotal roles as a security architect, SOC supervisor, and most recently, as the interim CISO. His expertise in crafting a robust security program has been instrumental in safeguarding DOR’s vital information assets.

Before shifting his career focus to security, Carlos honed his technical skills across the technology sector including critical positions such as Systems Administrator at a leading managed cloud provider and Senior Technology Manager for a Managed Service Provider. These roles have not only shaped his technical acumen but also his leadership capabilities in managing complex technology operations.

Carlos has always been driven by a genuine passion for cybersecurity. This passion is highlighted in his many years helping to organize prominent security conferences to advance the cybersecurity community
