State Chief Privacy Officer Katy Ruckle and Chief Technology Officer Nick Stowe testified before the state Legislature on Wednesday about recent reports completed as part of Executive Order 24-01 on generative Artificial Intelligence.
Speaking before the House Technology, Economic Development, & Veterans Committee, Katy and Nick outlined four reports on Generative AI, procurement standards, risk assessments, and equity frameworks. They highlighted AI applications including language translation and software development tools and discussed risks such as energy use, workforce impacts, and data security.
Katy noted alignment with federal standards, including the National Institute of Standards and Technology's framework. Nick shared plans for a sandbox environment to allow agencies to test AI safely.
