Once again, I am honored to be a part of the Office of Cybersecurity’s awareness month activities. I encourage you to check out the website with a host of speakers and opportunities to test your cyber skills. I will be presenting on the current legislation to increase safety for kids online and will provide other practical tips on children’s data protection. I plan to dive into the latest developments on the Kids Online Safety and Privacy Act (KOSPA) and some of the first amendment challenges regarding legislation on age-appropriate design code.

Later in October, I also will be moderating a panel on the work being done on Governor Inslee’s Executive Order (EO) on Artificial Intelligence. Part of the EO’s focus is on the benefits and transformational effects AI can have on state government delivery of services, while also considering the risks and impacts on Washington communities. This panel will explore the development and implementation of the work directed by the EO.
