Washington Technology Solutions (WaTech) is pleased to announce that Gretchen Peri joined the agency as state Chief Technology Officer on Sept. 2, 2025.

Gretchen brings more than 25 years of experience in government technology, strategy, and consulting. Her leadership and expertise will play a central role in advancing WaTech’s digital transformation efforts across the state.

Gretchen comes to WaTech from Slalom, where she launched the company’s public sector business and led its Global Public & Social Impact practice. Gretchen will take over for Nick Stowe, who has served as WaTech’s CTO since March 2023. Nick will remain with the agency through the end of the year to ensure a smooth transition.

State CIO and WaTech Director Bill Kehoe thanked Nick for his service and welcomed Peri’s appointment. “Nick’s steady leadership has been invaluable to WaTech and the state, and I want to thank him for his contributions. We are excited to welcome Gretchen to the team and look forward to her leadership as we continue our digital transformation journey.”
