WaTech will launch major improvements to the SecureAccess Washington (SAW) website on Oct. 21 to make it easier for Washington residents to access online services. The upgrades include full Spanish translation across the site and accessibility features. The accessibility features include improved labels and descriptions for screen readers and consistent navigation options in the header and footer.
“Improving accessibility and usability is central to our commitment to better serve Washington residents,” said Bill Kehoe, Washington State Chief Information Officer and WaTech Director. “These updates to SecureAccess Washington support the state’s broader initiative to deliver a modern, customer-focused digital experience. Every Washingtonian deserves equitable, easy access to government services.”
The project team has been working on these updates over the past year to make the site more user-friendly. The redesigned landing page offers a cleaner look and more intuitive navigation for all users.
These accessibility updates bring SecureAccess Washington into alignment with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), well ahead of the April 24, 2026 federal mandate. Taking these steps early ensures Washington residents with disabilities can access digital services more equitably and consistently.
SecureAccess Washington is a secure login portal that connects residents with dozens of state services, including licensing, benefits, and health programs.
