Chief Privacy Officer Katy Ruckle talks about the importance of her role in looking for "blind spots" in IT projects on this week's episode of StateScoop's Priorities podcast. Ruckle, who joined WaTech in 2020, says she's "not the privacy officer of no" nor is she there to tell people they can't do things. Her goal is to help businesses accomplish what they need to while incorporating privacy principles.
Ruckle is one of more than 20 chief privacy officers across state governments, and at least three states are looking to hire privacy chiefs this year. Washington is the only state with a dedicated budget for enterprise privacy. You can listen to the full podcast on StateScoop.
