Privacy workshop
OPDP is offering our highly popular Privacy Primer Workshop on May 4-5 in Olympia. This intensive, two-day, in-person training dives deep into privacy fundamentals and program development. Topics include:
- Privacy law foundation.
- Privacy principles.
- Data classification.
- Data life cycle management.
- Privacy frameworks.
- Incident response.
- Privacy and Artificial Intelligence.

IAPP training
We are happy to announce that OPDP received grant funding through the State and Local Cybersecurity Grant Program. With the grant money we are able to offer IAPP certification training to public employees. To receive the application form email privacy@watech.wa.gov.
Legislative session
We are in the final stretch of the 2026 legislative session and are following key bills including House Bill 2606 which updates the OPDP statute based on the Joint Legislative Audit Review Committee findings and the governor request AI Companion Chatbot bill. We will do a deep dive on this session’s bills in our next State Agency Privacy Forum scheduled for March 19.
