IT Project Lifecycle

Agencies identify IT investments necessary to support their mission and vision and submit requests for funding through state budget cycle in the form of a Decision Package. WaTech will review all IT policy decision packages, evaluate these against established prioritization criteria and submit their recommendations to Governor's office and the Legislature. Once the funding is approved, agencies will follow the investment intake process for oversight determination, investment approval and implementation.

Phase 1: Decision Package Review button

This is the starting point. An agency identifies a business need and submits a budget request called a Decision Package (DP).

Phase 2: Secure Project Funding button

After the DP review, projects move into the funding prioritization process. Projects are scored and ranked based on statewide criteria, then considered for budget approval.

Phase 3-Project approval

Once funding is secured, projects move through the statewide approval process. WaTech reviews project plans, confirms alignment with policy and determines whether oversight is required.

Phase 4-Implement project
