Deidentification Webinar

In case you missed it, the Office of Privacy and Data Protection (OPDP) presented a webinar on de-identification earlier this month.  This presentation provides an overview of deidentification, which is the process of removing or masking personal information within datasets to protect individual privacy while still enabling meaningful data analysis.

Specifically, the presentation covered:

    • What is personal information
    • Basic terminology and concepts of direct identifiers, indirect identifiers, transformation, pseudonymization, and anonymization
    • Benefits and techniques to de-identify
    • Other implementation considerations

For more information on deidentification and implementation considerations you can watch the webinar and access the slide deck on our website at https://watech.wa.gov/privacy-data-protection/government-agency-resources

Training Vouchers Available for Privacy and AI Governance Certification Training Update

Thanks to all the applicants for their demonstrated interest in continued learning and formal certification in privacy program management and AI governance!  I have both certifications myself and found the programs well worth the time and investment. We received an overwhelming response and will be sending notifications to voucher recipients on June 12th.  Due to the continued engagement of the public employee community for these training courses, we plan to apply for grant funds again for the next funding cycle.

Thanks and see you next month with more updates from OPDP!
