Criteria for Developing Principles for Decision Making

Number:
EA-01-01-S

Purpose

Agencies must develop Enterprise Architecture (EA) principles for business and technology decision-making. These principles, enduring and rarely amended, guide organizations in achieving their mission by aligning with strategic goals, policies, and regulations. Principles must be clear, actionable, inclusive, consistent, and balanced, addressing all EA domains. They should support scalability, adaptability, and sustainability while ensuring alignment with business objectives. Agencies must engage stakeholders to ensure relevance and adoption, document and distribute principles organization-wide, and provide training for effective implementation. Regular reviews must align principles with enterprise strategy to maintain relevance and foster effective decision-making.
