Happy Privacy Week 2026 everyone! For those of you that could join us thank you for your engagement and participation and for those of you that missed it, you can catch up on the fantastic slate of webinars we hosted this year to celebrate International Privacy Day and Privacy Week. Our theme this year was health care privacy and there is no shortage of areas to learn about regarding our health information and the laws and regulations that protect it. Monday:
The Office of Privacy and Data Protection team presented on HIPAA Basics and explained the three main implementing rules: the Privacy, Security, and Breach Notification Rules.

Tuesday:
Jacqueline Seitz, Deputy Director of Health Privacy at the Legal Action center covered the intersection of confidentiality and civil rights for people in substance use disorder treatment.

Wednesday:
Speakers Jordan Wrigley and Jordan Francis from the Future of Privacy Forum presented on the trends of legislation around health privacy and provided a technical deep dive into modern health and wellness devices like wearables.

Thursday:
Focused on Children’s Health Care Privacy with Sam Mendez of HCA and Sheila Nishimoto of Coordinated Care. Presenters explored the complicated world of children’s health care privacy and provided real world examples of how we got where we are today.

Friday:
We wrapped up the week with a Kahoot quiz on what we learned this week! Congrats to our winners at HCA, DOC, and WaTech! We also shared our great videos including our Privacy Minute on HIPAA and a recap of OPDP is 2025.
