S6: Testing Strategy

Notice: applying this to your agency.

The IT Project Resources are not meant to replace your agency’s internal project management practices or prescribe how you must operate. Instead, they offer concepts and tools that can strengthen delivery by providing a scalable framework for project level coordination. All project documentation should be maintained throughout each stage in alignment with agency policies and, where applicable, WaTech requirements and oversight expectations.

Finalize and approve a comprehensive testing plan and strategy that defines the approach for functional, performance, security, integration, and any other required testing. For initiatives involving external customers, ensure the plan includes a clear, intentional approach for how those customers will participate in testing activities to validate that the system meets their needs and expectations.

For Programs:

Establish the enterprise testing strategy and coordinate testing across agencies. Incorporate oversight requirements (e.g., IV&V) where applicable.

For Programs with Agency‑Led Sub‑Projects:

Agencies contribute test objectives, scenarios, and local testing needs. Enterprise team integrates agency inputs into a unified test plan.

For Projects:

Finalize project‑specific test plans, test cases, and testing logistics.

WaTech available template: Updated Test Strategy and Master Test Plan created previously and creation of individual Detail Test Plan(s) and Test Cases, as applicable
