Phase 1: Decision Package Review

Reviewing Projects at Conceptual Stage - Decision Package (DP) Review

The first step in the project lifecycle is submitting a budget request called a Decision Package (DP). This happens when an agency identifies a business need that may be solved with a technology project.

During this early stage, WaTech can meet with your agency to review the DP and help align your proposal with statewide technology priorities. This alignment supports the funding prioritization process and helps WaTech understand your business needs.

A DP Review also provides other benefits:

  •  WaTech can offer guidance on technical options and suggest approaches that better support statewide technology strategy.
  •  Agencies can learn about similar efforts across government which may lead to shared solutions or collaboration opportunities.

How to request a review:

Email the Business Relationship Managers (BRMs) to schedule a meeting. During the session, WaTech and your agency will walk through the draft Decision Package together to confirm that the technical approach and project management plans support state IT strategy. WaTech then provides feedback and recommendations.
