Fall Privacy Primer Workshop
As promised, the Office of Privacy and Data Protection will be hosting its popular Privacy Primer workshop for public employees this fall on Nov. 2-3 in Olympia. This intensive, two-day, in-person training dives deep into privacy fundamentals and program development. Topics include:
- Privacy law foundation.
- Privacy principles.
- Data classification.
- Data life cycle management.
- Privacy frameworks.
- Incident response.
- Privacy and Artificial Intelligence.
Coffee with Kehoe Podcast
In case you missed it, I was invited to join State CIO Bill Kehoe on his podcast Coffee with Kehoe. It was a fantastic and wide ranging conversation on building the state’s privacy program, the distinction between privacy and cybersecurity, and expanding OPDP’s program work to include policies and adoption of artificial intelligence in the state.
Washington Industry Forum
I also want to highlight that the OPDP team will be at the WaTech hosted Washington IT Industry Forum on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at the Marriott Tacoma Downtown. This one-day, statewide event brings together public-sector agencies and private-sector technology partners to shape the future of government technology.
