Notice: applying this to your agency.
The IT Project Resources are not meant to replace your agency’s internal project management practices or prescribe how you must operate. Instead, they offer concepts and tools that can strengthen delivery by providing a scalable framework for project level coordination. All project documentation should be maintained throughout each stage in alignment with agency policies and, where applicable, WaTech requirements and oversight expectations.
For Programs and Projects
Gap Analysis is the bridge between documenting what exists today and designing what the future solution should be. Without it, Architecture Mapping jumps too quickly into solutioning. Identify the differences between the current‑state environment and the desired future‑state capabilities, architecture, and requirements. This ensures the solution design is grounded in real constraints, risks, and dependencies.
Key Activities:
- Document system components, interfaces, and integration points.
- Map infrastructure layers (application, data, network, security).
- Align with WaTech architecture review criteria and standards.
- Validate with enterprise architects and technical leads.
- Incorporate scalability, maintainability, and performance considerations.
