Server Backup
Server Backup Services (SBS) provide a comprehensive system for backing up and restoring almost any type of server over the State Government Network (SGN). SBS can backup and restore a single file, all files on disk or an entire server, whether physical or virtual.
SBS uses a variety of technologies to provide backup and restore services, archival and retrieval, storage management and disaster recovery. We can support both physical and virtual servers, running a Windows OS or Linux/Unix variants. We can support servers that are co-located within the State Data Center or almost anywhere else in the state, as long as they are accessible via the SGN.
WaTech offers Server Backup Service to agencies that are part of the Statewide Governmental Network (SGN). This service provides agencies with server data back up without having to purchase and maintain their own backup system or environments. The service includes client software necessary to backup files, databases, virtual environments and physical systems. The data is encrypted and stored at three geographically dispersed locations:
- Washington State Data Center (SDC) backups are kept for the first 7 days of desired retention period.
- Quest Technologies Cloud Connect storage backups are kept for customers' full desired retention period.
- Quest Technologies Immutable storage - kept for 30 days.
The service is a multi-tenant solution with the ability to securely delegate the backup and recovery responsibilities throughout the agency using role-based access.

Pre-service requirements

To obtain services from WaTech, eligible organizations must first enter into a Master Service Agreement (MSA). See if you qualify for an MSA.
